Overview

An Act to provide for the welfare of Motor Transport Workers and to regulate the employment of Inter-State Migrant workmen and to provide for their conditions of services and for matters connected therewith.

It applies :-
To every motor transport undertakings employing 5 or more motor transport workers

Registration of motor transport undertaking

1. Every employer of a motor transport undertaking to which this Act applies shall have the undertaking registered under this Act.
2. An application for the registration of a motor transport undertaking shall be made by the employer in the EODB Portal
3. When a motor transport undertaking is registered under this Act, there shall be issued to the employer a certificate of registration.

Renewal of Certificate of Registration

1. Every employer shall apply in the EODB Portal for renewal of the certificate of registration before its validity expires.
2. The fees chargeable for renewal of a certificate of registration shall be the same as registration

 

Fee including the payment mode

Rule 12 (2) Fees - The fees to be paid for the grant of certificate of registration under Rule 12 is specified below:

Maximum number of Motor Transport Workers to be employed during the year.

(a)	1 to 5	100.00
(b)	6 to 25	200.00
(c)	26 to 50	350.00
(d)	51 to 100	550.00
(e)	101 to 250	600.00
(f)	251 to 500	1250.00
(g)	501 to 750	1500.00
(h)	751 to 1000	2000.00
(i)	1001 to 1500 and above	2500.00

Mode of Payment: Every application shall be accompanied by a copy of the original challan depositing the requisite fees in the specified head of account or through “e-Payment” when it is notified & functioning.
Provided further that if the renewal is not executed within the time specified i.e. 60 days before the expiry, a fee of twenty five percent in excess of the fee ordinarily payable for the certificate of the registration.
The Heads of Accounts under which the receipt relating to the fees for Renewal of Licensing shall be credited is “0230 - Labour and Employment - 101 - Fees under the Motor Transport Workers Rules, 1962.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Any employer/applicant of a motor transport undertaking employing 5 or more Motor Transport workers can apply for the certification of registration.

Certificate of Registration or Renewed Certificate of Registration under Rule 5 or Rule 8 of the Motor Transport Workers Rules, 1962.
